Chinese Embassy in Karachi

If you need to visit the Chinese Embassy to get a VISA in Karachi, be sure to not be intimidated by the crowd outside, or bother waiting in line (or you will never get in). The Embassy is open 9-12 Mon, Wed, Friday, and takes 2 days to process. Just walk up to the door, knock, and when it opens flash your (non-Pakistani) passport to get in. It's rude, but unfortunately necessaryThere is also a Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.

President Zardari in Tokyo on Official Visit

President Asif Ali Zardari arrived here on Monday on a three day official visit to Japan.  The President is visiting Japan at the invitation of Prime Minister of Japan Naoto Kan, to further strengthen the cordial relations between the two countries and open new avenues of cooperation. This will be the President’s second visit to Japan since assuming office. During his stay in Japan, the President will call on the Emperor of Japan. He will hold summit level talks with Prime Minister Naoto Kan.

Shabana Akhtar (born April 5, 1972) appeared on the Pakistan National Athletics scene in 1989 when she became the national champion in 100M and 200M. She also became the national champion in 4x100M Relay, 4×400 Relay, 400M, long jump and high jump during 1992 and maintains her record even today. She won a total number of 42 gold medals. She is also the first Pakistani female athlete to participate at the Olympics, when she competed in the women’s long jump at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.   Naseem Hamid comes from an impoverished slum in Pakistan’s biggest city of Karachi. The 22-year-old became South Asia’s fastest woman by winning the 100-metre in the 11 th South Asian Federation Games (SAF) in Dhaka on February 8 th 2010.
