Marriott Karachi

Fabulous hotel, about as expensive as any other major chain hotel, but that's about your best option in Karachi. If you are coming by local taxi (as I did since I took the train in) you must make sure you are aware that you'll have to walk from the back of the building to enter the hotel due to the security of the street the hotel sits on. Also, if you are planning on taking a taxi that isn't called by the hotel (cheaper and if you're independant, better) then you'll have to walk back to the same place you were dropped off. Here's a trick, when you are returning to the hotel, if you are not in the same cab or rickshaw that drove you to your destination, tell them you want to go to the Karachi Club and then give them directions to the back street (you'll see it). Some drivers won't take you to Marriott if they know you're going there.
Marriott Hotel in Karachi is a recently renovated 5-star property. The beds are the most comfortable in the world and the food in the restaurants is excellent. I loved it and felt 100% safe at all times. Excellent visit !!
We have also come on several occasions to the Nadia's coffee shop (high tea) and Suzy Wong's chinese food. Both are great.
